WOMEN'S HEALTH CONFERENCE
October 20, 2007, leading professionals from Michigan and Ohio came together for a women's health conference at The Immaculate Heart of Mary in Monroe, Michigan. They shared knowledge and offered insight on topics such as breast cancer, heart health and stress management during the half-day conference.
The event was organized by a committee of employees, board members and volunteers. Their hope was to reach as many women as possible, provide a wealth of information and make it low-cost.
Debbie Dingell, keynote speaker, was joined by former Miss America Kaye Lani Rae Rafko Wilson and State Representatives Kate Ebli and Kathy Angerer, who also attended the conference.
The committee has already begun organizing the 2008 conference and plans to build upon their first year's success.

SMOKING CESSATION PROGRAM
The Family Medical Center of Michigan is proud to offer you an opportunity to participate in our new free Smoking Cessation program. The Smoking Cessation program will assist pregnant women, patients with heart disease, and anyone who is thinking about quitting smoking.
The Smoking Cessation program will also provide free follow-up counseling visits to those that need it. The number of counseling visits varies depending on each patient and only takes about 15 minutes of your time.
Smoking is a major health hazard not only to the pregnant mother, but also to the unborn child. For individuals who quit smoking there are immediate benefits such as improved circuluation, lower blood pressure, improved pulse rate, improved sense of taste and smell, improvement of lung functions, and decreased change of a heart attack or stroke.
As you can see becoming smoke free not only increases the chances of living a longer and healthier life for you and the people around you, but it also saves you approximately $1,095 annually.
If you are a pregnant woman, have heart disease, or you or someone you know is thinking about quitting smoking, please contact The Family Medical Center at (734) 847-3802 ext: 257 and ask about our Smoking Cessation Program.

Board President of Family Medical Center of Michigan, Dave Brown, is the June National Community Health Advocate of the Month.
